Cybia has just released (Feb 08) an all-in-one version of about 20 embossing filters, EmbossWorks. It has been made compatible with Vista. The last time I used embossing, I was disappointed to find that PSP's Emboss filter allows no adjustments (in PSPX) and that it's less contrasty than earlier PSP (not adjustable) Emboss filters. So Cybia's filter is handy. And free. |

I just tested it on PSP-X2 on Vista Ultimate with an 11MB picture from out my window and it worked very good. I saw cybia a while back and thought I'd never have use for it. But Now I find that I may have some uses for it. I'm still learning. LOL Thanks again for the link. |

I installed it in my plugin folder (under Jasc/Paint Shop Pro and can't get it to show. I tried File>Preferences>Locations and browsed for it but it doesn't show. It's not in a folder, does that make a difference? Or should I move it to "My Documents>PSP8 Files>Plugins? |

Try putting it in you MyDoc>psp8 files>Plugins folder. It shouldn't make any difference though. I tried to search to find if these filters would work on PSP-8 or not, but couldn't find any info. |

Huh! I don't have a plug-in folder under my PSP8 Files! Thought I did. I uninstalled and re- installed the filter to no avail. My File Locations are set-up like this.........
Enable plug-ins--Allow the use of external Adobe-compatible plug-ins. checked Limit loaded plug-in files to those with an .8B? extension only. checked Allow file format plug-ins to request pre-filtering of support file types. unchecked
I don't understand it. All other filters I've installed show up fine. ??? |

You can add the plugin folder in your PSP8 files in My Docs. then make sure that your PSP8 knows where to look for it. (FIle Locations) |

I thought about doing that, but if it won't show up in the browser under Jasc/Paint Shop Pro/Plug-ins I figured it wouldn't show up in the other either. But, I'll try it and see what happens. Thanks! |

I don't know if this approach helps but after installing the plugin (and making sure in the file locations dialogue box the folder is listed, one has to restart PSP. I just installed into X2 and had to restart it. If I remember correctly years ago I had to do the same with earlier versions.
I believe this issue is related to how PSP works in terms of creating a cache file after first loading when started so installing new plugins won't be added to that cache until PSP is re-loaded.

I had tried that--twice--and no go either. But, it works now so I'm thankful for the advice. |
