Muriel, your creations are lovely! I'm really glad you shared them with us.
(One reason your ghost card did not win is that you spelled Hallowe'en with the apostrophe. Don't you know that spelling things correctly when popular culture demands a relaxation of all rules, orthographic and otherwise, will be interpreted as elitism? I saw some silly misuse of a word on the web tonight and thought "Didn't they learn in school?" and then remembered that teachers are not to be paid attention to.) |

Oh D, "It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks". The apostrophe is because it is the eliding of two words - Hallowed and Evening. It belongs to another time. Personally I like the apostrophe but then, I also like King James english, and Shakespeare.
Your post are very nice Muriel. Thank you for sharing. |

G'Day!
My Goodness.. this is a hoot! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine this would trigger a discussion on the proper spelling of Hallowe'en/Halloween! I note that even Firefox thinks I spell it incorrectly, but sometimes Firefox must be overruled.
I seem to remember sometime around Grade 3, I learned to spell Hallowe'en with an apostrophe. I must have thought it was a cool word, because it stuck.
And thank-you for those kind words about the things I do.

Good Evening.. Feeling a bit bored this evening, so I thought I would put together this little technique.. it is really very simple, in case anyone is interested: 1. New work area 500 X 500 Pixels 2. Flood with black - you can experiment with other colours later. 3. New Raster Layer 4. Add Tube 5. Using magic wand, make the tube a selection. 6. Selections/Float 7. Selections/Select none 8. Effects/Texture/Emboss 9. Adjust/Hue & Saturation/Hue: -100 (This removes all colour) 10. Highlight Raster 2 (the snowman) 11. Blend: Hard Light (You can experiment with other blends, as well) 12. Crop the excess background and add a border. 13. Using your airbrush, add a hint of colour. Now, experiment with your background by flooding it with other colours. I find light gray always works well. This technique works best with images that are not very busy, having only a few lines. Really busy images just seem a bit confused in the finished project. Good Morning.. As always, I came up with a Christmas card for my other favourite site, and would like share it with this one. It is simply a composition of a selection of picture tubes, the object of which was to come up with a sort of winter scene incorporating the site logo and little ghostie mascot. If those among us have suggestions as to how this can be improved, I would love to hear them. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y287/Murlag/Withlights-1.gif. Muriel! |

That is a lovely image. The animated stars give it an almost 3D appearance. |

Thank-you, MT Pockets...
Making the animated stars was an interesting challenge, but I was rather pleased with the effect.

Hi.. Here I come, a day late and a dollar short as always, but I was wandering down Memory Lane in Photobucket this evening and came across this: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y287/Murlag/Halloween2009.jpgIt is another take the annual ghost picture, made this past Hallowe'en, for my other favourite site. The little ghostie in the corner is the Ghostplace mascot. Muriel! |

Still on Memory Lane here.. This is a picture of me.. about a thousand years ago. I am in the process of making a Family DVD, and every image is treated in some way. None of them are ever just dumped into the computer, and I thought this was a cool way to treat some of the little kiddle pictures: It is quite easy to do. The heart and oval are preset shapes with the dots line, with an inner bevel applied which is quite obvious in the larger format. It is placed on a black background, duplicated and adjusted. The kiddle image is added, and just a tube or two to finish it off. I chose a black background it makes a dramatic presentation on TV screens, where they DVD's will be viewed. I wonder why Minnie Pearl comes to mind.. M! |

She's at it again! Since mastering the technique of digital applique, I came up with this: It is time consuming, but amazingly entertaining. I learned that I can change the stroke in the text tool, making it a running stitch. Please.. if someone has suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them! Many thanks! Muriel! |
