PSP 7 Slow/Hangs

Hi, I'm new here but I hope you can help me. I have been using PSP 7 for years. All of a sudden, it has started to get really slow/hang. For example, when I pick ANY tool, instead of just popping up so I can use it, I have to wait and wait and wait and then it works. Then I have to wait some more before I can use another tool, etc. This is very annoying to say the least.

I uninstalled and reinstalled. I've cleared cache, I've de-fragged, I've done a disk check, etc. etc. ect. Nothing has fixed it and I have NEVER had this problem. I have no idea what would have caused it all of a sudden.

Any ideas before I go insane? Thank you!

Hello:

I'm new to the forum and to graphic design. I'm trying to help someone out and I am not having very much luck. I hope someone can help me.

A person gave me two versions of a logo. One is in a .png file format and the other is in a .tif file format.

The image size is 975x375. I need to resize the image to 185x71. The end result of my image is quite blurry and it looks as if the ink is "bleeding".

This is what I did.
I went to Image > Resize.
For Pixel Size, I set width to 185 and height to 71.
Resize Type is Smart Size.
The checkbox for Resize All Layers is checked.
The checkbox for Maintain Aspect Ratio is checked and it shows 2.6 to 1.

I'm not understanding what I am doing wrong to have the image appear unclear.

Can someone help me out? Is there a way to attach the image to this post so others can play with it?

Thank you in advance.

When using the selection tool in PSP V7, is it possible to specify the size of the selection required accurately rather than the click and drag method? i.e by typing in the dimensions in pixels.

Using Selections>modify>expand only operates on both dimensions together and I can't see any other method. Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.
