Photo Opens In PSP at 72 DPI instead of 180

Photos taken with my older Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (8MP) open in PSP XI in 72 DPI but photos taken with my little Canon Powershot ELP 300 (12MP) and Powershot S410 (4MP) and Powershot A495 (8MP) all open in 180 DPI. Is this a function of the camera or some setting I need to change in PSP.

My second question is: If I am unable to change this setting, will it degrade the photograph if I manually change the setting for the photograph in PSP to 180 DPI before printing?

This may be more of a question I should post in a Camera forum but since I use PSP to crop and modify my photos, I thought I'd try for an answer here.

Thanks for the help. Mac

Although I've been using various versions of PSP for decades (now on X2) I just do the basics as I'm not a graphics person. Just a techie developer.

I've just spent a lot of time with help screens and searches as well as reading lots on this forum. But in the interest of time (for me that is) I am hoping someone could point me to the correct tutorial, instructions or example of the following:

I have one photo with a framed oval area similar to the portrait on USD. I would like to past another photo, a person obviously, into that area. I've tried copying and pasting as layers and/or selections, moving layers forward, backwards, etc. But I just keep getting into a deeper hole.

So, if anyone knows of somewhere that can explain the technique to use, I am a quick learner, never forget what I learn (NOT) and would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks and happy holidays.

Does anyone know of a plugin to enable me to get a starburst effect from digital images similar to what is achievable by using a 'starburst' filter on the lens of a camera? I would like to be able to sort out this automatically and not have to edit every single point of light that I wish to apply the effect to.

Thanks

I was trying to use the back ground eraser tool today, and trying to follow the tutorial for its use in an earlier version (I have X4) but the tool is not available when I select the adjustment layer, when I select the back ground layer it erases the background, leaving it transparent.
This worked ok before --- what am I not doing! Or what have I clicked on/off!!
