| Iris #1 - Histogram Adjustment Effect |
|
Original ---- Enhanced

|
Using PSP8:
Iris - #2.
- 1. Objective: Using other effects to achieve same effect of a sharper and more translucent photo.
- 2. Using the Histogram Effect: Adjust || Brightness-Contrast || Histogram Adjustment. Note that in working with this effect, one uses the up arrows below the histogram window. I tried each and settled on pulling the right (white) up arrow to the left and then refined with the values.
- 1. Began again with the original photo, duplicated it and on new layer applied the Histogram Adjustment with these values:
Output Max = 255
Midtones Compress = 0
Edit = Colors
Red:
-- Low = 0
--
Gamma = 1
-- High = 190
Green:
-- Low = 0
-- Gamma = 1
-- High = 200
Blue:
-- Low + 0
-- Gamma = 1
-- High = 185
- 2. In comparing with the first Iris #1 I found the above values to be very similar. I then finished the photo using Adjust || Sharpen || Sharpen More twice.
Comment: At this point we have used two photo enhancement effects to achieve a similar result. The Histogram in this case is quicker and in some ways easier. The key to each effect is to experiment with values. Often lower values are better than higher values to produce the effect wanted.
