Using PSP v8
My objective was to create a surreal like painting from the photograph. It did not turn out as I had hoped but it is a first try at this approach.
I took the original photo and used various effects. My first approach was to create a selection at the bottom of the photo and cut it out and pasted it as a new layer. Then I used the deform tool on this section to bend the photo and give that shape a bit of perspective.
I then painted parts of the photo using the 'color to target'. The background I painted a green. The car I painted a purple and then added the emboss brush. Often I would work back and forth between the various brushes and effects.
Then I mainly used the Warp Brush and tried to get a melting down effect by drawing down various parts of the photo. I also used all the options (push, expand, contract, twirl, noise) and worked over various parts of the photo until I had something weird.
I also duplicated the layer twice and worked with various mode options to see if I could get different effects on parts of the photo. I would basically select an area with the free hand tool so I could apply just the effect to that selection.
Ultimately I ended up with the final image. I then did a magic wand on the outside of this image so I could do a drop shadow. I then did a number of finishing photo's which I then added to the main image for a collage like attempt.
Hope you like it and would like to get comments and ideas of how to do a surreal painting.
