Cutouts used as Tubes
Created by: Yvonne

In this tutorial you will learn to make cutout images using dingbat fonts and turn them into tubes. You will also learn how to delete tubes.

You can download the dingbat font in the download file (Dingbat Cats 2 of Listmageren) if you wish and install in your fonts directory, or you may use one of your own choosing.
Open a new image 300 X 300, transparent background, 16 mil colors.
Click on the Text tool, then in the center of your image. Select a text of your choice, I've used:
Name = Dingbat Cats 2 (capital letter O)
Size = 200
Styles: Stroke = None, Fill = Solid Color (color doesn't matter)
Textures: Stroke and Fill = None
Text effects = Bold
Create as = Floating Selection
Antialias = checked

Do not deselect.

Apply a Cutout effect: Go to Effects || 3D Effects || Cutout:
Vertical/Horizontal Offset = 3
Opacity = 45
Blur = 4
Shadow color = Black
Fill interior with color = unchecked

Do not deselect.

Apply a Drop Shadow effect: Go to Effects || 3D Effects || Drop Shadow:
Vertical/Horizontal Offset = 1
Opacity = 100
Blur = 1
Color = White

You can play with the settings and change them to your preferences.

Sometimes no blur on the white drop shadow works better ... play with it to suit your preferences. Then click on OK and deselect by right-clicking into your image.

Go to File || Export || Picture Tube. Fill in the blanks, if necessary. Cell Arrangement and Placement options are filled in for you if you only have one image. Be sure to name your tube, and click on OK.

Your cutout image in the tube is ready to use. Open a new image, color of choice (I've found it doesn't seem to work well on black) and try out your tube!

If you find you don't like your new tube, you can just delete the file from your PaintShopPro\Tubes folder.

Well, that's it folks! Happy Tubing ...
